Russet Sparkling Cider - Turners

Russet Sparkling Cider - Turners

Russet Sparkling Cider - Dry - 8% abv - 500ml Bottles

A well rounded and full flavoured Cider, with a touch of nuttiness and medium-dry finish. Lightly sparkling. Unfiltered.

This cider has the reassuring expected ‘nutty’ aromas of classic russeted apples, but with unexpected passion fruit and clematis flower joining the party. The Christmas nut selection runs through this from front to back, from a touch of walnut bitterness to cherry almond smoothness to a boozy frangelico finish. Outstanding.” Gabe Cook, Modern British Cider

THE STORY BEHIND TURNERS CIDER

Turners Cider is a family business based in the village of Marden, in the Weald of Kent. They make a range of craft ciders in the ‘Eastern counties’ style: that is, from only eating and cooking apples.
When The first batch of Turners Cider was made it was with all the windfall fruits from family and friends apple trees . A scratter and a basket press was hired  and everyone gathered on a sunny autumn morning with their bags of scrumped fruit.Anything and everything was used
People brought Discovery, McIntosh Red, Golden Noble, Howgate Wonder, George Cave, Egremont Russet, Cox, Gala, Greensleeves and Grenadier.Apples were picked from the wildings around the woods and fields.
The kids drank the apple juice straight from the press until they got belly ache.75 litres of juice was stored at the back of the shed and they waited. By the following Spring it was sharp but delicious.
That summer’s parties were fuelled with our first homemade cider.

Now the Turners buy apples by the tonne using many traditional varieties like Cox, Worcester, Bramley and Russet. and ferment in stainless steel vats. The result is a range of clean, light and refreshing ciders with a balance of sweetness and acidity. They’re perfect for summer drinking, for thirst-quenching, as an aperitif and with many types of food.

But not much else has changed. They still only use local apples and – when it’s time to press and to bottle – friends and family still gather to lend a hand.select each type of apple for its flavour.
